Obituary of Laura Bond
BOND: Laura Elizabeth; Passed away at Brierwood Gardens on Sunday, February 16,2020, at age 102 years.
Beloved wife of the late Robert J. Bond.
Much loved mother of Evelyn Picketts and her husband Dr. Darrell Picketts and son Gordon.
Loving grandmother of Jeffery Picketts (Debbie), Mark Picketts (Karli), Ian Picketts (Elizabeth) and Rachel Bond and great-grandmother of April and Eric; Oliver and Ella; Anna, Benjamin and Elsie.
Dear sister of Fred Smith (Helen) of Troy and Wray Smith of Troy.
Predeceased by brothers Sterling Smith and Dr. Oscar Smith.
Also missed by many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends
Laura was a lifetime member of Little’s Corners Womens Institute and an active member of First United Church, Cambridge where she taught Sunday School and was a choir member for 60 years, and was a longtime member of the U.C.W.
Laura’s family would like to thank the dedicated staff at Brierwood Gardens who made her last days peaceful. Also, thanks to her special friends Sheila Gollan, Terry Mears and Brian Boyd.
The Family will receive friends and relatives at SYDENHAM-HERITAGE UNITED CHURCH, 120 Sydenham St. on Saturday, February 22, from 10 a.m. until 11a.m.
The funeral service will follow in the church sanctuary at 11:00a.m. A time of friendship and fellowship will follow immediately in the Hospitality Suite of MCCLEISTER FUNERAL HOME, 495 ParkRd.N. A private family interment will already have taken place in Cambridge.
If wished, memorial donations to St. Andrew’s African Mission-Home of Hope or Sydenham-Heritage United Church would be gratefully appreciated.
