Laura June Jaillet (Hedlund)
Jaillet, Laura June – With gratitude and thankfulness for a life well lived, the Jaillet family announce the peaceful passing of our mother, Laura June Jaillet (nee Hedlund) who passed smiling and laughing into the presence of her Lord & Saviour at Northland Pointe in Port Colborne on December 16, 2020 at the age of 87. She is now in the arms of our loving Father and her loving husband Emile, who predeceased her in 1997, all six of her brothers and sisters, and some of her nieces and nephews.
Laura was born June 9, 1933 in Thorold and was the strongest, most loving woman you could ever hope to meet and always had a smile on her face. She was the foundation of our family.
A very long-time resident of Dain City, Laura raised her family in this awesome community. She worked at Ort’s Store and later after her children were older work 30 years as a housekeeper and also delivered the Globe and Mail newspaper bundles for the carriers. She attended All Saint’s Church and also was a member of the choir.
She will be dearly missed by Carole (Bruce) Cameron (Orono, Ont), John (Celine) Jaillet (Clearwater, BC), June (Ted) Robertson (Hamilton, Ont), Marlene DiMatteo (Port Colborne, Ont) and Amanda (Kyle) Doubleday (Beamsville, Ont). She was the Nanna to Hailey (Jason), Vanessa, Alicia (Jesay Klomp), Jeff (Michelle) Jaillet, Domenic Dimatteo, Delaney Doubleday, and Ryan Doubleday. She was Great Grandmother to Malaya, Gabriel, Cooper, Isabelle and Leena. And Fur Nanna to Tessie and Mira. She also leaves behind her Sister-in-Law Betty Hedlund and several nieces and nephews.
We are deeply grateful to Northland Pointe’s Dr Daniel, Nurses, PSW’s and staff who all made her stay very comfortable and extremely enjoyable.
Her absence leaves a huge void in our lives, but she will live on in our fondest memories. Due to COVID restrictions, and ensuring we are doing our part to help control the spread, a private virtual remembrance and family graveside will be held at a later date.
