It is with deep sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Larry Johnson on Tuesday March 10, 2020 at the age of 46 years.
Larry was predeceased by his loving Mom, Martha, in 2002. He will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his Dad, Ruben; sister Sharon (Ken); brother Verner (Jennifer); nieces and nephews Brittany (Jordan), Amy, Sarah, Anders, Holly and Carter; great nephew Henry and many other loving relatives and friends.
Larry was born on July 15, 1973 and grew up on the family farm in Dugald, Manitoba. He left the farm for the Alberta oil patch in 1991. This lead him to Russia where he also worked in the oil industry. While in Alberta he made lifelong friendships that he held close to his heart. The pull of what was most important to Larry, family, friends and life on the prairies, brought him back home to put roots down in Dugald. He started a career in the trucking industry which led him to becoming an owner operator and starting a gravel hauling business.
Larry loved spending time with friends on many adventures. From snowmobiling and skiing in the winter to jet skiing and time at the lake in summer. He also enjoyed several trips to the Dominican Republic. Larry’s fun loving, easy going spirit made him a cherished friend.
After being diagnosed with MS Larry still loved the outdoors and could be found most summer days out on the deck chatting with friends and keeping an eye on the activities of the farm. He enjoyed drives to watch the progress of the crops and the equipment working in the fields. As Larry’s struggles with MS progressed his friends were a daily source of strength and courage. One special friend, Johana, brightened many of Larry’s days with her friendship and companionship.
A celebration of Larry’s life will be held on Tuesday, March 17th, 2020 at 11:00am at the Oakbank United Church, 582 Balsam Crescent. Reception at Springfield Curling Club, 27019 Hwy 15. Interment at Millbrook cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the MS Society.
