Kevin Joseph Nolan 2020

Kevin Joseph Nolan
September 24, 1955 – January 30, 2020

It’s with broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of father, husband, brother, Elvis Presley fan and the only man I know with two sheds and no tools, Kevin Joseph Nolan. My father was a caring and deeply compassionate man with the unique gift of finding good in even the most deeply flawed individuals, which served him well both in his career at Her Majesty’s Penitentiary and his day to day life. All who knew him could simply describe him as funny and kind, just don’t touch his hair.
My father was a passionate music fan, who could tell you what song was on the top of the charts this day in 1967. It’s likely the first question he asked you, after your name, was “Do you like Elvis?” His humour was dry, witty and quick and any room he was in was sure to be filled with laughter, although I won’t dare to commit most of his jokes to print. Music and wit were not his only passions, he loved a good deal, a good scoff fried chicken and the Toronto Maple Leafs. We will all miss you, a truly one of a kind man, a great father, husband, brother and friend.
Predeceased by infant son Matthew, parents Josephine and Patrick Nolan, Mount Carmel, parents-in-law Leonard and Pauline Power of Admiral’s Beach, brothers-in-law Fred Power, Neil Lundrigan and Joseph Murray and nephews Christopher Curran, Christopher Power and Eugene McDonald. He leaves to mourn his wife Bernadette and son Micheal (Heather), brothers Brian (Madonna) and Ken (Colleen) , sisters Patricia (Terry), Alicia (Tony), Ellen (Graham) and Janet (Peter) ), brothers-in-law Ron (Rose), Albert (Margie), Steve (Ellen), Randy, and Rob (Yvette), sisters-in-law Anna (Austin), Josie, Marj, Agnes (Fonce), Eileen, Theresa (David), and large circle of relatives and friends. Cremation has taken place.
Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road, St. John’s on Monday, February 3, 2020 from 2 p.m. – 9 p.m.
A sincere thank you to all the staff at the Palliative Care Unit at the Dr. L.A. Miller Centre for both the outstanding care for my father and the support to our family during this long and difficult road to peace.
