Obituary
KENNETH ‘SCOTT’ HOLTBY
January 12, 1964—-January 5, 2020
We may never understand the sad circumstances,
we do have to remember:
“Death leaves a heartache, no one can heal”.
“Love leaves a memory, no one can steal.”
It is with great sadness that Scott’s family announces his sudden passing, in Nanaimo, B.C. on January 5, 2020.
Scott was a son to Alan (Judy) Holtby, Mary (Robert) Pettinger, a sister to Laura (Boyd) Godfrey and Andrea (Robert) Purvis. More importantly he was a father to Mitch Holtby (Clarissa), Carter Van Slyke and Eli Holtby, who will miss him terribly. Scott leaves many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends mourning his passing.
For many years, Scott’s focus was on Allison Vollet’s son Carter, whom he loved like his own, and more recently also on their son, Eli. Scott loved his son Mitch and wife Clarissa, and their children, Scott’s grandchildren, Ryder, Dylan and Sierra and they always held a very special place in his heart.
Scott was a man of many talents and had many different career paths throughout his life. From warehouse worker to construction; landscaping to deck hand on B.C. Ferries, his skill list was long. Scott loved reading, music, cooking and sports.
Scott struggled with life’s challenges. He was loved, supported and encouraged by so many, however, the downward spiral became too much, and he chose to exit this world on his own terms.
A ‘Celebration of Scott’s Life will be held at a later date.
Donations in Scott’s name would be appreciated to the:
