Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at St. Clare’s. Predeceased by his parents Richard and Elizabeth Whalen, brother Clarence (Mick), sisters Josephine Whalen, Marlene Chafe and Shirley Kirkpatrick, and special friend Barry Reardon (Dickie). Left with loving memories wife of 35 years Judi Samson, children Angela Whalen, Kenneth Whalen, Lisa Samson, Donna Antle (Travis Hillier), Chris Antle, Patricia Fitzgerald; grandchildren Samantha, Matthew, Nicholas, Chloe, Nathan, Carter, and Calie; great grandson Bentley; siblings Richard Samson (Mary), Phyllis Thompson (Joe), Virginia Hunt (Ed), Dean Whalen; special furry friend Fizz, and a large circle of extended family and friends.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff and doctors of 4 West at St. Clare’s, with special thanks to Dr. David Lane for taking such good care of Dad, and to Fr. Paul for sharing in Ken’s final moments.
Family will receive visitors at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, St. John’s, on Saturday, January 4th and Sunday, January 5th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held from the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Monday, January 6th at 1:00 p.m. (Postponed from 10 a.m.) with Fr. Paul Lundrigan presiding. Interment of Ken’s cremated remains will take place in Placentia Junction at a future date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ken’s memory may be made to the SPCA.
