Kenneth Jerome Kenny MacDonald 2020

Kenneth Jerome “Kenny” MacDonald
The family of Kenneth Jerome “Kenny” MacDonald of
Slave Lake, Alberta, are saddened to announce his sudden passing on
Tuesday, May 26th, 2020 at the age of
49.
Born and raised in Antigonish, he was the son of (the late)
John D “Red Johnny” MacDonald and Cordis (MacNeil)
MacDonald.
Kenny moved to Alberta in 1994 for
several years and then returned in 2002, making it his permanent home
and where he met his life partner Debbie Hayhurst.
Kenny had a passion for trucking and had an
extraordinary career in both NS and Slave Lake. He was a heavy
equipment operator and this expertise, along with his dedication to
the forests he loved, made him an invaluable asset during the Slave
Lake forest fires. Kenny was exceptionally thoughtful and generous; he
would give the shirt off his back without a second thought. He had a
love for animals that was apparent to everyone, as evident in the
collections of photographs of wildlife he encountered.
Kenny is survived by his life partner Debbie Hayhurst and
her daughter Meagan Platz, and his beloved cat Mr. Bojangles; his
mother Cordis (Antigonish); sister Cathy (the late Norman) Langill,
Ottawa; brothers Brian (Tina Zinck), Heatherton, and Kevin (Jann
Goodwin), Montreal; sisters Chandra (John) Gavin, Cape George, and
Judy (Paul) MacEachern, Guelph; many nieces, nephews, grand nieces,
aunts and uncles.
Besides his father, he is
predeceased by his brother-in-law Norman Langill, grandparents, aunts,
and uncles.
Cremation has taken place; a
celebration of life will take place at a later date. Donations can be
made to the Lesser Slave Regional Fire and Rescue Society, Box 1030,
Slave Lake, AB, T0G 2A0, fireadmin@slavelake.ca
