Kenneth Gordon Moyer 1939 –

Born 30 November 1939 – Departed for next realm 11 December 2020
At the tender age of ten years, Ken was teaching Sunday school at the Alliance Church. In high school, Industrial Arts teacher Lloyd Cunningham spotted Ken’s talent for calculations and drafting and encouraged him to develop this gift. By 15 he was drafting for the BC Forest Service. In 1957 Lynne Fleming was also working for the forestry and fate would have it the two of them were sent to clean up the silo, an offsite storage facility. Three years later (1960) they married.
From this union came son Trevor and daughters Tracy & Susan. Ken moved to BC Dept of Highways, followed by employment with private survey companies developing subdivisions etc., and finally the oil patch from which he retired in 2005. His work was well respected and Ken was very proud when Land Titles Registry in Calgary incorporated his standards into their “Standards for Drafting”.
He joined AA in 1975 and celebrated 45 years of sobriety this past July.
Remodeling our homes was a pastime he enjoyed, employing many skills learned at the hand of his Grandfather Edward Styles. Weekends were spent on local lakes, where he studied the critters savored by the fishes. A Mo Bradley graduate, he became proficient in the art of fly tying. Many years of enjoyment were found on local lakes with brilliant stories of catches that are still spoken of today.
While working in the oil patch, Ken (& Lynne) joined Ducks Unlimited. They devoted years of service to DU fund raising and kid’s programs, receiving many awards for high achievement.
Ken is survived by wife Lynne, son Trev (Edmonton) daughters Tracy Fetters (Paul) Nakusp and Sue Cutrer (Keith) Palatka, FL.; 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; Sisters Doreen (Russ) Rombough, Lethbridge and Lois (Tim) Anderson (Roberts Creek) and families, newly found special cousins Mike Moyer and Konrad Moyer. Last but not least is family patriarch Uncle Ross Styles (Donna) of Kamloops.
A family celebration of life will be held in the spring – God willing. A special thank you to all the “angels” at Kamloops Hospice.
