Keith Jack WILLIAMS 2020

With great sadness, we announce the passing of Keith Jack Williams of Picton, Ontario. Keith died unexpectedly on August 6th, 2020 at Kingston General Hospital.
Keith is predeceased by his brothers, Gerald, Glen and Laverne (Sam) Hunt. He is survived by his wife, Elspeth (nee Lindsay), children Keith Williams Jr. (Basma Kavanagh), Kathleen Williams, Sarah Williams (Ryan Harvey), granddaughter Ana Blum and another, as yet unnamed, granddaughter on the way. Born on April 3, 1938 to Alton and Kathleen Hunt of Demorestville, Keith was raised by Myrtle Williams and her mother, Jessie.
Though the circumstances of Keith’s coming into and leaving this world were less than ideal, he made a point of living life to the fullest and treating everyone with kindness. From flying his Fleet Canuck around Canada and the United States to hitchhiking through Yoho National Park, he had a love for life that was hard to dampen and an unerring ability to survive mishaps, including a near miss in his plane that necessitated an emergency landing on Brockville Main Street. After a short stint teaching at Labrador City Collegiate and West Kings High School, Keith spent the majority of his working life as Principal of the Shelburne Youth Centre in Nova Scotia. Upon early retirement, Keith moved himself and his family home to Prince Edward County, a place he loved dearly. His later years were marked by volunteer work, which included a stint as Commanding Officer of the 851 Air Cadet Squadron and serving on the Glenwood Cemetery Board. Keith relished teaching a new generation of pilots how to fly and being active in his community.
A celebration of life will take place in the future, when social distancing is not a concern. Keith will be interred at Glenwood Cemetery. Donations to the Loyalist Humane Society or the 851 Air Cadet Squadron would be appreciated by the family.
Arrangements entrusted to the Hicks Funeral Home, 2 Centre Street, Picton.
