Kattlin Kenneth Richardson June 28, 1990 – August 6, 2020 (age 30)
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Kattlin Richardson on August 6, 2020 in Cape Breton Regional Hospital at the age 30.
Kattlin is survived by his parents Ken and Andria Richardson (Miramichi, NB); his grandmother “Nanny” Marilyn Richardson as well as his sister Rebecca Richardson (Colorado Springs, CO), sister Katelyn MacLean (Donald MacLean) (Bathurst, NB), brother Brandon Shaw (Hartland, NB) and Tyler Shaw (Taylor Tebelmann) (Edmonton, Alberta), his nephews Eliyah MacLean and Atlas MacLean as well as his mother Yvonne Martin (Brampton, ON) and grandparents Mary and Ivan Martin (Brampton, ON). Kattlin had many aunts, uncles & cousins all whom played important roles in his life over the years. There are too many to name, but he loved them all.
He didn’t always make the best choices but he always had the best intentions. His bravery was second to none and his humor will stay with us forever.
You could always count on him to tell you that you drooped your $3 bill, you lost your pocket or your socks were untied.
Kattlin drew much strength from his deep love and connection with his Father, Ken Richardson (AKA “Old Man”) and was close with his stepmom Andria Richardson. They were his pillars of strength during his illness.
He loved talking and bonding with his brothers Brandon and Tyler. He spoke fondly of them and looked forward to seeing them any time they could be together.
He looked up to his sister Rebecca in Colorado and loved her very much. He shared some of her musical tastes and had many fond memories of growing up with her.
He shared a special bond with his sister, Katelyn and took much pride in his nephews Eliyah and Atlas. The phone conversations, messages and inside jokes were a continuous source of comradery. He shared a kinship with his uncle Darrell Dwight Day and could talk with him all day. Their jokes and laughs were unending.
Kattlin found joy in his friendships with others, especially the amazing people at the ally centre in Sydney, NS who he considered to be part of his family.
Kattlin’s love of music, food, jokes and having a good time made him an absolute pleasure to be around. He was loved everywhere he went and always the source of a couple good stories.
He was loved, he is loved and his memory will comfort us until we can be with him again.
A Celebration of Life will be celebrated at a later date.
