Smith, Kathleen Lorraine “Kay”, 93 of Yarmouth passed away peacefully with her family by her side on January 30,2020 in the Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born September 13,1926 in Cape Forchu, she was a daughter to the late Gordon and Abigail (Hunt) Smith. Kay is the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a long-time employee of Sobeys in Yarmouth, having worked there for 32 plus years. She was a member of the Evangel Assembly, Yarmouth. Kay is survived by daughter, Sharon, Yarmouth; grandchildren, Shonda; Krista (Adam); Cindy (Richard); 6 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren. Kay was the last surviving member of her immediate family and besides her parents she was predeceased by her siblings, Willis; Eric; Alden; John; Paul; Bernice; Muriel; Ruth and Violet. Funeral arrangements been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation will be Monday, February 3, 2020 from 7-9 pm in the Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be Tuesday, February 4,2020 at 2pm from the Evangel Assembly Church, Yarmouth. Rev Nathan Hill officiating. Burial in Yarmouth Mountain Cemetery at a later date. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer’s Society.
