Kalix Langenau, 19, of Airdrie, Alberta, left this earth too early for us to understand on Saturday, February 15, 2020.
He was born at the Peter Lougheed Hospital in Calgary, AB, on November 1, 2000 to parents Tracy and John.
Growing up Kalix was a loving and kind child who enjoyed camping, fishing and playing with friends and cousins. In his youth he enjoyed playing soccer, t-ball and flag football, but he had a true passion for hockey. As early as Tyke, Kalix showed a strong desire and aptitude for being a goalie; he lived to be in the net. Through years of hard work and training Kalix earned spots on some of Airdrie’s elite teams, such as Airdrie Bantam AA Lightning and he played for the Airdrie Junior C Dragons as a 15 year old. Kalix also found a calling in being a mentor and coach at the age of 14 and helped inspire the next generation of young athletes at Explosive Edge. In addition, Kalix joined his high school volleyball and football teams, the W.H. Croxford Cavaliers.
Kalix attended elementary schools and junior high in Calgary, before attending and graduating from W.H. Croxford High School in Airdrie in 2018. He is remembered as a bright student who was a positive influence, a grin on his face and always trying hard to accomplish what he set his mind to.
Kalix will forever be remembered as a loving son, the best big brother, an amazing friend, a patient coach and for being a lifelong Oilers fan.
Kalix is lovingly remembred by his mother, Tracy Henderson; brothers, Davis, Trayceon, Mckayo; father, John (Betina) Langenau; sister, Payton and brother, Easton; Grandparents, Carrol Henderson, Bob Henderson (Fran), Marie and Georg Langenau, Elise and Russ Bacon and Leo Fillion; aunts and uncles, Carrie (Brent) Johnson, Kelly (Clarke) Watkiss, Isiah Henderson, Tanya Langenau, Sam (John) Belanger, Nicci Fillion; cousins, Brittany, Brayden, Caitlyn, Ethan, Josh, Madisyn, Dominic, Emerson, Alexis, Larissa, AJ, Nadia, Aiden and Wyatt.
A Celebration of Kalix’s Life will be held Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at 12 Noon at Genesis Place Shane Homes arena (800 East Lake Blvd) Airdrie, AB.
