Junis Wellman January 13th 2020

Junis (June) Wellman passed away peacefully at Medicine Hat on Monday, January 13th, 2020 at the age of 98 years. She is lovingly remembered by her daughters Carol Wellman, Kathy (Mark) Carry, and Wanda Spiteri and her three cherished grandchildren Savannah Wellman, Nicole (Grant) Seefried, and Cory Spiteri. She was predeceased by her husband Ray and daughter Vicki. June was the youngest of nine children born to Otto and Anna Hoffos in Assiniboia, Saskatchewan on August 31st, 1921. She met her loving husband Ray at a dance in town where he swept her off her feet and they were married five months later on October 25th, 1946. From Assiniboia they moved to Blackie, Alberta, then to Vulcan and finally settled in High River where they managed the Highwood Golf and Country Club. June had a long career as a hairdresser, always taking the opportunity to comment on someone’s hairdo that caught her attention. She enjoyed all sports but excelled at golf and curling, and time was always made for dancing and playing cards with family and friends. Family would like to thank the staff at Sunnyside Care Centre for their care and kindness over the past several years. No service will be held at June’s request. Memorial gifts in June’s memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice. Condolences may be sent through www.saamis.com or to condolences@saamis.com subject heading June Wellman.
