Hodder, Juanita Mildred (nee Chapman)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Juanita Mildred Hodder (nee Chapman) after a long battle with cancer which she bravely fought for 22 years. Juanita passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family on Thursday, May 7, 2020 at the age of 72. Her strength and courage inspired us all.
Beloved mother of Linda (Darren) Lewis, Larry (Cathy) Hodder and Stephen (Jenna Kennedy) Hodder.
Loving companion of Victor Leblanc. Cherished Nanny of Shannell, Lindsay, Jessica, Jelisa, Brandi and Gavin. Great Nanny of Leslie, Brodie, Jaxon, Bensen, Lily and Madison. Juanita will also be greatly missed by her brother Harry (Inez) Chapman, sisters Norma Brown and Joan Fagan. Predeceased by sister Dorothy (Eric) Lethbridge. She will be fondly remembered by her lifelong friend Clyde (Mona) Hodder and sister-in-laws Rosie Gallimore and Daisy Hingley. Forever in the hearts of many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Juanita was born and raised in Killbride, NL. She spent her early years as a mother in Dunville and on the Avalon. She later moved to Cambridge, Ontario where she lived out the last 25 years of her life. She had many friends both in Ontario and throughout the East Coast that will miss her dearly. Juanita made everyone feel like family. She was friendly and welcoming, one incredibly special lady with a mind of her own. She loved to laugh, eat treats and watch her soaps. She was a great cook and anyone who had the chance to try her homemade bread would agree. Juanita was fun-loving, caring and kind. She was a beautiful woman inside and out.
Juanita will be peacefully laid to rest alongside her parents, Raymond and Mildred Chapman, at Forest Road Anglican Cemetery in St. John’s, NL. Burial and Celebration of Life will take place in St. John’s at a later date. As well, a Celebration of Life will be held at the Legion in Ontario in the nearest future. In her memory, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
A tree will be planted in memory of Juanita in the Dods & McNair Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville. The annual dedication service will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2020 at 2:30 p.m. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.dodsandmcnair.com
