Joyce Jeanette Smith
J. Jeanette (Jan) Smith, 93,
of Moncton, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Tuesday,
March 17, 2020.
Born in North Milton, PEI, she
was the daughter of Reagh and Blanche (Houston)
Moreside.
Jan was a member of St.
Andrew’s Presbyterians Church and Ladies Bible Study. She began her
banking career in PEI and went on to work at several locations
throughout the Maritimes. Following her retirement she volunteered
with the Karing Kitchen and The Moncton Hospital.
An avid walker, music lover and traveller.
Jan enjoyed summers at the cottage, time spent in Florida and trips
home to the Island.
She cherished time with
extended family and friends and will be fondly remembered and sadly
missed by her husband of 69 years, Clayton Smith and her sister,
Georgie Silliphant; sisters-in-law, Bertha Fillmore (Richard) and
Rosemary Smith, as well as several nieces, nephews and their
families.
In addition to her parents,
she was predeceased by her infant son, Douglas Allen Smith; sisters,
Olga Toombs, Stella Ford (Winston) and brother, Barry Moreside (Myrna)
and brothers-in-law, Robert Smith and Manson
Smith.
A heartfelt thank-you to all
the caregivers of ‘The Briarlea Home’ for
Jan’s sincere care and loving
support.
A Memorial Service will be
held from St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 77 Hildegard
Drive, with date and times to be announced.
Interment will be in Hunter River
Presbyterian Church Cemetery, PEI.

Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995).
