Obituary
On Friday, August 21, 2020, Joseph Thomas Murray, loving father of three children, passed away following a brief second battle with cancer, at age 60.
Joseph was born on February 26, 1960 at Grace Hospital in Ottawa, ON to Clarence and Jean (Lynch) Murray. He grew up on the family farm in Osgoode, ON. As a young adult, Joseph moved to Calgary, AB for a short period, before moving to Ottawa where he spent the remainder of his life. Joseph had and loved three children, Jacob, Sarah, and Ryan.
Joseph had a creative mind and a curious spirit – he always held a wide-range of interests. He loved animals and always spoke fondly of his memories of cows, horses, and dogs from his childhood on the farm. Joseph also loved hockey; he played until his adult years and was known for his faithful support of the Boston Bruins. For most of his working life, Joseph worked with computers and the people who used them; he enjoyed chatting with clients and resolving their issues. Some of his other interests included woodworking, drawing, playing the guitar, funny animal videos and chocolate chip cookies.
Joseph was preceded in death by his mother, Jean, and his father, Clarence. He is survived by his three adult children Jacob, Sarah, and Ryan, his siblings Peter, David, Colleen, Catherine, Janet, Steven, and Dwayne, and many in-laws, nieces, and nephews. He is also survived by the mothers of his children Charlotte (of Jacob), and Diane (of Sarah and Ryan).
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 3rd, 2020 at Springhill Cemetery – 7820 Springhill Rd., Metcalfe ON – at 2:00pm.
In light of COVID-19, those in attendance to the graveside service will be asked to provide their name and contact information to the funeral service provider for the purposes of contact-tracing in case of infection.
