Joseph Parent Friday June 12th 2020

PARENT – Joseph Anthony (Tony)
After a brief and surprising battle with cancer, it is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, Dad and Papa at the age of 72 years at home on June 12, 2020 surrounded by his loving family.
Originally from Campbellton, New Brunswick, Tony and his wife Sharon were to have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in September. Joe was a very proud Dad to Heather Harrison (Iain) of Kitchener and Glen (Keri) of Vittoria. He was the fun-loving Papa to Charlie, Henry, Kate, Everett & Ethan. He will be greatly missed by his sister-in-laws Sheila Beaton (Terry McPherson), Teresa (Ron) Montgomery and brother-in-law Terry Godin as well as many nephews and nieces.
Tony proudly served with the Lord Strathcona’s Horse regiment in the Canadian Armed Forces.
He was a hard-working man and after retiring from Raymond Industrial, he enjoyed his part-time job with Mike Yarek Dodge.
Never an idle man, he enjoyed woodworking, his daily Tim Hortons’ runs and cherished his weekly baseball games up until last summer as a third baseman with Raymond’s Sunday Old Boys’ league.
He enjoyed walks on the local trails with Sharon and always up for a drive, they loved their day trips through the countryside and beach days at Turkey Point.
He had a kind heart, was quick to lend a hand and would say hello to everyone and anyone. You always knew he was near, by the jingling of the change in his pocket and the whistling of a tune. We will miss his great sense of humour which he maintained until the end.
Thank you to the kind medical staff, nurses and caregivers, Tonya, Dr. Julia, Kim, Alysha, Dr. McNeil, Shelley and Geeta.
In Joe’s memory, donations to the Stedman Community Hospice or Cancer society would be appreciated.
Arrangements entrusted to the Dennis Toll Funeral Home. A private Celebration of Life for the family will be held once restrictions due to Covid-19 have been lifted. Online condolences are available at www.tollfh.ca
Joe always lit up the room with his smile, enthusiasm and a passion for life that radiated from his eyes. Tony will be incredibly missed and forever in our hearts.

  1. It is with a sad heart that I write this message for Sharon and her Children. I just found out. Joe was not only a fellow east coaster he was from the same town as me back east. My husband and I worked with Joe, he had amazing work ethics. Everyone loved him at work. He always talked about you and the kids to me at work all the time Sharon. He loved his family. What a nice man he was. Bill and I are grateful that we can say Joe was our friend.
