GIESLER, Joseph Nicholas
Joe Giesler died peacefully, on Tuesday, March 3, 2020, after a short illness. He was in his 96th year. Joe is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years Bernadette (Hummel); his children JoAnne (Robert Elliott), Jennifer (Tim Bertrand) and James “Jim” Giesler; his grandchildren Nicholas (Lindsay Selzler) Elliott, Barrett (Dinah) Elliott, Matthew (Cally) Elliott, Hailey (Chris Sluman) Bertrand-Sluman, Kelsey (Stephen Mack) Bertrand; and great-grandchildren Sarah and Joseph Elliott, Alexander and Eleanor Mack and Briar Sluman. Joe is also survived by his siblings Patricia and Willie (Verna) Giesler. He was predeceased by his parents Rosa (Renette) and Bernard Giesler; and siblings Madeline (Ed) Weiler, Gertrude (George) Gallow, Peter (Betty) Giesler and Carl (Doreen) Giesler. Joe was active all his life in St. Joseph’s Church, the Powassan Lions Club, and his community. Family and friends will be welcomed at the Paul Funeral Home, Powassan on Sunday, March 8, 2020 from 2 to 5 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11 am at St. Joseph’s Church, Powassan. Spring interment Powassan Union Cemetery. Joe’s family wish to express their sincere gratitude for his care to his PSWs, and the staff on C3 at North Bay Regional Health Centre.
