It is with sadness for our loss that we announce the passing of Joseph Boncardo, aged 96, on January 26, 2020. It is with joy and inspiration that we reflect on a life well lived. Born in Toronto on November 16,1923, Joe was the eldest of 9 children and is predeceased by all but one, Mary Kingsland. He was married to Renée (Gagnier) for 54 years before her death in 2006. He is survived by her sister Denyse Graham. Joseph is the cherished father of Bernard (Teresa), Michèle (Ashley Gonsalves), Louise-Anne (Randy Kitchen), Martine Landry (Grant Bechtel), and Mark (Cindy Murray). He is the much-loved grandfather of Jason Lynch (predeceased), Sean Landry, Scott Landry (Meghan Theoret), Velika Kitchen-Janzen (Derek Janzen), Joey Kitchen (Lindsay Brezer), and Nadia Geise (Mark). He will be missed by his great-grandchildren Tyson, Emily, and Evan Landry and Jones Lynch.
Joseph was a WWII veteran who served in the Royal Canadian Navy. For over 35 years, Joe worked as a meat inspector for the Federal government. A devout Roman Catholic, he served the church in various capacities throughout his life. Joe was an avid swimmer, walker, and sports fan who was a role model for healthy living. Mostly though, he was known for his kindness, compassion, and optimistic outlook on life.
