Joseph Joe Doherty Sunday July 26th 2020

The family of John “Joseph” Doherty, of Edmonton, Alberta, are deeply saddened to announce that he has died. Joe died suddenly and unexpectedly in his home in Edmonton. He was born to John and Teresa Doherty (deceased), formerly of North Augusta, ON. Born in Brockville, raised in North Augusta, attended South Grenville District High School.
He lived and worked in Edmonton for many years, coming home for a visit every few years. Joe remained a single, independent man all his life. He was predeceased by his parents, and by a sister, Teresa Kelsey in May of this year. He is survived by Denis Doherty (Phyllis), Eamon Doherty (Cammie), Pat Doherty (Karen), Mike Doherty (Charlene) and Mary Bailey (Loris). Also survived by several nieces and nephews, and many cousins. Cousins in the Brockville and Ottawa and Cornwall area, as well as Alberta (Bernie and Noreen Doherty) and in the USA, Ireland, UK and Australia.
Joe had enjoyed some travelling over his life, with the most enjoyable trip being in Sept/2017, to Ireland to attend a family reunion. It was a trip of a lifetime for all of us. Joe will be greatly missed.
A private family Memorial Mass will take place at St. Francis Xavier Church, Brockville with interment at St. Teresa’s Cemetery, Throoptown.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation would be gratefully acknowledged. Arrangements entrusted to the Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 James Street East, Brockville.
Send a message of condolence or share a special thought of Joe on the Memory Wall above. Thank you.
