Obituary of John Mills
In Loving
Memory of
John Frederick Mills
John passed away at the Temiskaming Hospital on October 15, 2020. He was predeceased by his wife Gladys (1992), his son Robert and his brothers Sidney, Kenny, Melvin and his parents Harrison and Florence Mills. He is lovingly remembered by his wife Evelyn, his daughter Cheryl (Brian) Huff, his step daughters Faye Browning (Robert), Donna Lafaivre (late Raymond), 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
John was the oldest of 4 boys. He was born premature in Sombra Township. John spent the first days of his life on the oven door being fed with an eye dropper. He grew up on the family farm in Southern Ontario. His army service took him to different locations in Europe. In 1960, John moved his family to Haileybury.
John wore many hats in his lifetime, working on boats on the Great Lakes, driving truck, working as a mecanic, logging and at Rexwood til he retired. After he retired, he and Gladys made many friends as they camped, fished and hunted in the area. After Gladys’ death, he married Evelyn Wright. He remained self sufficient in his house until he entered the hospital shortly before his death. He passed away peacefully with his daughter Cheryl, by his side.
The family wish to extend their thanks to Drs. Logan and Slaney as well as the many hospital staff who cared for John during his stay.
There will be no service at this time due to COVID 19.
Donations may be made to Palliative Care – Temiskaming Hospital.
