Obituary of John Alexander Gammon
It is with extreme sadness that the family announces the passing of our father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather on February 17, 2020 in the Halifax Infirmary Hospital at the age of 91.
Born in West Quoddy, Halifax Co., John was the son of the late Richmond and Minnie Gammon. John is survived by his Son, John (Mary), Bedford; Daughter, Colleen (Mrs. Pat Belval) Dartmouth; grandchildren, Tanya, Shawna, Samantha & Jonathan; great grandchildren, Sydney, Brianna, Matthew, Max and Jonathan Jr.; sisters, Frances Foxton, Halifax, Ruby (Mrs. Arthur Osmond) Chezzetcook. John was predeceased by his loving wife, Florence; sisters, Elsie and Daisey.
John worked at National Sea Products, Farmers Dairy, Casino taxi & Union Cab, and afterwards a driver for Metro transit where he retired from to enjoy life with the love of his life, Florence. John & Florence enjoyed vacation bus trips and meeting the many vacationers that were on the tour. John was also an avid Toronto Maple Leafs fan and enjoyed watching their games.
Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Rd., where a Memorial Service will be held on Monday February 24th at 1 p.m., followed by a reception.
