Known as “Jolly John” to most, John Szmata passed away at the Grimshaw/Berwyn Community Health Center on Friday, May 8, 2020, at 92 years of age.
John was the owner/operator of Grimshaw Gravel Supplies for many years. Following his retirement, he moved to Kelowna (BC). In his later years, he returned to the Peace Country and did his thing, as a hobby farmer.
Pre-deceased by his brothers Nick & Matt.
He is survived by brothers Steve, Pete & Charlie and several nephew & nieces.
Commital of Jolly John’s cremated remains will take place at a later date.
