Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of John Bruns announce his sudden passing on August 16, 2020 at the age of 79. It is fitting that he chose to leave this world from his special location, Gladestones, doing what he loved.
John will be greatly missed by his children Cindy (Mike), Darla (Dave), Raymond (Marie), as well as his grandchildren Daniel, Andrew and Megan Trodden, Aaron Bruns, Jason and Steven Closs, Michelle Stark and numerous great-grandchildren. John is predeceased by Rita Bruns, his wife of 58 years and his sister Diana Bruns.
Dad was always willing to lend a hand to a neighbour, repair whatever was broken and, when required, was a master of the ‘farmer-fix’. He was a self-taught man who encouraged his children and grandchildren to undertake anything they could dream up. A farmer and rancher to the core who lived for hunting season, respecting the animals and sharing the windfall. He was a man that listened much more than he ever spoke. He took to woodworking later in life and was generous with his talents and creations – every child and grandchild has been blessed with his beautiful art.
He loved his family and friends, enjoyed playing cards and always had a smile for whomever walked in the door.
There will be no services per Dad’s wishes. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to HALO (Local Air Ambulance) #12 – 49 Viscount Ave SW Medicine Hat, AB T1A 5G4.
