John Russell 19552020

It is with a torn heart and great sadness, that the family of
John Russell, announce his passing on April 21, 2020 at Hospice
Fredericton. He was the son of the late Raymond and Ruth
(MacLean) Russell. Besides his parents he was predeceased by an infant
brother, George Russell.
He leaves behind three loving sisters who meant the world to
him: Carmel (Gene) Sobey of Lower Derby N.B., Rubena
(Darrell) Saunders of Bartibog Bridge N.B., and Brenda (Keith) Dealy
of Loggieville, N.B. as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. He
will be dearly missed by his many friends whom he loved and
respected.
John was born in Chatham, NB in June of 1955. He
grew up in Bartibog Bridge where he developed a love for the outdoors
and all it had to offer through his loving parents, sisters and many
friends.
John’s greatest love and pride were his wife
Charlotte (Vickers) of 42 years and his son Jeffrey, for whom he would
have moved mountains. Besides many happy family gatherings,
he enjoyed many summers camping with friends and family. He loved
salmon fishing on the Miramichi, bass fishing and great trout fishing
trips. Hunting was also his passion with regular trips to Maple Grove
and most recently to Currieburg. Motocross, later in life,
also became a sport which he thoroughly enjoyed. Johns
greatest sport was snowmobiling. He had a snowmobile since the age of
12 and it became his passion, first oval track racing and then a
family sport with many outings enjoyed with
friends.
The support of friends and family throughout Johns journey
with brain cancer has been tremendous. To say thank you just
does not seem to be adequate. A special thank you goes out
to his sister-in-law Barbara Norick who has been with John, Charlotte
and Jeffrey for the past seven weeks of his
journey.
Life has been short for John; he had so much to live for and
so many future plans. Please join us at a later date for a
celebration of life and burial, once the current COVID-19 pandemic has
subsided.
For those who wish, donations may be made to the Miramichi
Salmon Association or the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation,
Radiation Oncology.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of John Russell 19552020..

  1. Charlotte & Jeff,

We were very sorry to hear of John’s passing. He was such a nice man and will certainly be remembered well by those who knew him. Take comfort in the fact that you both gave him joy and love – his was a good life.

Our thoughts are with you both,

    Kirk & Ruth Preston
