John’s Obituary
Maxwell, John Richard – 88, of Clark’s Harbour. It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of John surrounded by his family on May 29, 2020 at Roseway Hospital. Born on August 8, 1931, he was a son of the late Robert and Louisa (Nickerson) Maxwell. John, a lover of sports, was a pitcher with the Clark’s Harbour Clover Leafs and a member of the Old Timers Shelburne Co. Hockey League. He was a an avid golfer, being a founding member of River Hills Golf and Country Club, winner of many trophies including a “hole-in-one” and loved his annual golfing trips to Florida. In 1964 John built and owned Maxwell Motors Shell Service Station in Clark’s Harbour. He lastly worked at Tusket Ford as a car salesman. John was a member of the United Baptist “Stone” Church, enjoying singing in the choir. John is survived by his loving wife, Della (McIver) Maxwell; son, Stephen John (June Smith) Maxwell; grandson, Lucas John (Justine) Maxwell; great grandchildren, Lucas, Laila, Lincoln, Levi, Lily and Jack; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents John was predeceased by his grandson, Matthew Edward Maxwell; sisters, Annie, Vaughn, Bertha, Edna, Victoria, Margaret and Gertrude; brothers, Glen, Ashward and Victor. Many thanks to Dr. Keeler and nurses at Roseway Hospital, Shelburne for their wonderful care in John’s last days. Also thanks to the staffs of Roseway Manor and Bayside Home for their compassion and care. Due to restrictions associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, a memorial service in John’s memory will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the care and direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Barrington. Memorial donations may be made to the United Baptist “Stone” Church, Clark’s Harbour or Crosbie House, New Minas.
