“LIFE IS FRAGILE, HANDLE WITH PRAYER”
JOHN RAYBORN GINTER
JANUARY 21, 1936 – APRIL 14, 2020
It is with sad hearts we say goodbye to a man of great faith and integrity. John was born near Swan River, Manitoba. He left the farm to join the RCMP in 1955. He was proud to be part of the 1956-57-58 musical ride which included tours of Europe, the USA and Canada. While in Ottawa, John met the love of his life, Dawn Morrison.
John was seconded to the Canadian Embassy in the Visa Control Offices. He was posted to Vienna, Austria where he and Dawn had their first child Heidi. His next posting took them to Tel Aviv, Israel where David was born. Their final European posting was Bern, Switzerland where Tammie was born. In 1971, the family returned to Canada to a posting in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Their first Canadian born child, Jonathan, arrived soon after to complete the family.
John was a life long learner. While working with the Intelligence Services and raising a young family, he attained his Bachelor of Commerce degree from St. Mary’s University in Halifax.
John completed his service with the RCMP in Ottawa and retired to Red Deer Alberta. He completed his Articles and accepted a position managing the Uncle Ben’s Brewery. From this experience he became a small business owner, and this work led to become a part-time community college instructor.
John and Dawn retired to Radium Hot Springs,BC in 1997 and remained there until March 2020. While in Radium, John enjoyed being on the volunteer fire department and was a member of the Rotary. During his role as president of the Rotary, John was instrumental in establishing the Rotary Park in Radium.
John is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dawn, Heidi and Dave (Smethurst), David and Haeley, Tammie and Mike (Koselek), Jonathan and Christine. And, his pride and joy, his 8 grandchildren Erika, Evan, Ryan, Jill, Greydon, Tori, Natalie and Olivia. John will be missed by his siblings Seff, Frieda, Gertie and Harold and his many friends and relatives.John will be met by his parents Michael and Agnes, siblingsBernerd, Linda, Alma and Milton. To honour Dad’s service, he will be interred at the RCMP Cemetery in Regina.
“Dad, your legacy of devotion, kindness and love will be a compass
that guides us throughout our lives. We miss you!”
