John Freeman Purdy, of Hanover, passed away peacefully at South Bruce Grey Health Centre in Walkerton on Tuesday, September 29, 2020. He was 81.
Born in Lark Harbour, Newfoundland on October 24, 1938 to the late Jack and Lillian (nee Higgins) Purdy. John was a Welder with Butler Metal for over 27 years until retiring. It seemed that John always had a fishing pole in his hand and was happily in love with his bride for over 59 years.
Survived by devoted wife Katie (nee Stone) Purdy of Hanover. Loved father of Brenda Gristey (John McCully) of Chatsworth and Brian Purdy (Angela Nice-Purdy) of Kitchener. Special grandfather of Shannon (Kevin), Melissa (Paul) Allison (Alex), Meagan (Cody) and Blake Bester, great grandfather of Jax, Cody and one on the way.
To honor his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to share memories and express condolences to the family.
Memorial donations to the Diabetes Association would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover.
