Obituary
On August 30th, 2020 dad passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by the love of his family. His wish was to reach his 90th birthday and not to have to leave his home and he accomplished both.
His wife, Lily, stepson, Peter, granddaughter, Christy and his eleven siblings, preceded him.
He is survived by his children Rose (Ken), Leona (Larry), Wayne (Hazel), Deborah and stepdaughter Shirley (Darryl). As well as his 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter and several nephews and nieces.
Dad was born in Glenella and moved to Rossendale at the age of 12. He left the farm at age 19 and worked various jobs but returned to the family farm in 1962 and spent his life doing what he loved. He was so happy to take one last road trip with Wayne back to Glenella where he was able to see the old homestead, the church he was baptized in and to talk in Ukrainian with a resident who remembered his family. This brought back a lot of memories for him.
Dad had a unique relationship with every one of his family members and we each hold our own special memories of him. We will remember his greetings of “What’s up, what’s new and no problem”. There is a void in our lives but we are so grateful that he was with us for as long as he was.
At dad’s request there will be no formal funeral. The family will lay his ashes to rest at a private service.
