John Morrison
1942-2020
John David Morrison, of
Westville, formerly of Little Harbour Road. It is with profound
sadness that we announce the passing of our brother, father,
grandfather and friend in his 77th year on Monday, April 13, 2020.
Raised in Trenton, he was the son of the late John Hugh and Delia
(Hartling) Morrison.
He is survived by his
daughters: Shelly Morrison, Westville and Sonia MacIntosh Dobson, New
Glasgow; companion, Carol and her daughter Cindi Hayden, New Glasgow;
brother, Jim (Catherine) Morrison, Westville Rd; sisters: Yvonne
“Sally” (Gerald) Phalen, Westville Rd; June Morrison, New
Glasgow; Joanne (Colin) Coady, Westville; many nieces, nephews and
grandchildren, as well special friend, Buddy Jewell. He was
predeceased by his parents; sister, Lorraine Morrison; companion Gerry
Ross and her daughter Tish.
John was affectionately known
as Skook and worked in various restaurants around Pictou County. He
came into the lives of his chosen family and dedicated himself to
Geraldine “Gerry” Ross (New Glasgow) and was a father-figure
to: Bernie Ross, Tish (Doug) Perrin, Scott (Margie) Ross, Gwen (Ken)
Savage, Donnie (Janice) Ross, Kathy (Everett) Baker, Donna (Ronnie)
Conway, Jim (Susan) Bell. John was famous for his wit and sense of
humour. He had a nickname for everyone, his grandchildren
“Whitey” and “The Turkey” can attest to that. John
loved life and always made everyone feel welcome. He enjoyed car
races, road trips with the Crew, BBQ’ s with family and friends. He
was an avid camper, loved sitting around the fire listening to songs
and his Sunday morning visits with “Kenny” and
“Gweny”. His fondest times were sitting at the picnic table
3 seasons of the year, having a beer and waving to anyone who drove by
his house on Little Harbour Road, and most recently his evening drives
with Carol.
He will be profoundly missed
by all who had the honour of knowing him. Rest in Eternal Peace.
Public graveside service, 1 pm Sunday, November
1, in Christ the King Cemetery, Trenton. Reception to follow at the
Little Harbour Community Centre. For those attending the reception,
