Obituary
John Jack Dietrich, born in Speier, Russia on April 16, 1924, passed away December 14, 2020. He was husband to Lina and wonderful father to Anne and Herbert.
John immigrated to Canada in 1952 and worked as a finishing carpenter. He created many wonderful things including the carved bear at Manning Park entrance.
John met Lina through a newspaper ad and travelled to Germany to meet her. After a short courtship, they married and returned to Canada to start their family. They had many lovely home sites from Langford, Medicine Hat, Kelowna, Salmon Arm, Smithers, and finally to Summerland.
He is predeceased by his wife Lina and son Herbert and leaves behind his daughter Anne (Gary); grandchildren Brandi (Nate), Ryan (Jennifer), and Jessica; and great grandchildren Tryton, Maeya, Gavin, Mackenzie, and Lilly.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him for he was a great man, loyal and devoted to those in his care. He is gone to be with the love of his life and their son.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to the food banks that are in need especially this year.
The family wishes to thank all the nurses, care aides, and staff at Dr. Andrew Pavilion in Summerland for the care and love John and the family received while there. Everyone went above and beyond, truly giving the word family a greater meaning. Your hearts are huge and your smiles light up the days.
A private family graveside will take place at Canyonview Cemetery, Summerland, BC.
