John “Fergie” Ferguson
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John “Fergie” Ferguson. John passed away surrounded by his loving family on Saturday April 18, 2020 at the Stratford General Hospital. John was employed at Crane Canada Stratford from 1962 until 1996 at which time he retired due to ailing health. John was a 55 year member of unit 261 Army & Navy Stratford. He loved the Toronto Blue Jays and socializing with family and friends at the Legion meat draws and the Army & Navy wing nights. John is leaving behind his loving wife of 63 years Doris Quehl. 5 children Karen Smith (Doug Williams), Keith, Kevin (Barb), Kelly Morris (Don), and Kim Hunt (Rob). Special papa to 14 grandchildren Barry Smith (Tammy), Jessica Pulsifer (Charles), Stacey Ferguson, Mandie Rothernel, Johnny Ferguson, Taylor Ferguson, Shania Ferguson, Deb Wilson (Adam), Derrick Ferguson (Sarah), Dan Ferguson (Leanne), Steve Morris (Lindsay), Scott Morris (Victoria), Tamara Hunt (Chance), and Tiffany Hunt (Tyler).
He also had 15 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson. 2 sisters Mary & Betty, and sisters & brother in law Irene & Casey Gansevles and Alice Schmidt as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Thomas & Agnes (Gibb), mother and father in law Charles & Mabel (Knechtel) Quehl, 2 brothers Ron & Harold, sisters and brother in laws Jenny Ferguson, Hilda Schenk, Clarence Quehl, Florence & Lyle Steckly and Jerry Schmidt nephews Brad Ferguson and Jason Dickson and niece Bobbi Jo. A celebration of John’s life will be held at the Army Navy & Air Force Veterans Hall, 151 Lorne Ave E, Stratford on Thursday, September 3, 2020. Family and friends are welcome to gather at 1:30 pm with a memorial service beginning at 2 pm followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rotary Hospice Stratford Perth or the charity of your choice through the W.G.
