John Edgar Patrick Wilson September 20 1951 August 30 2020

John Edgar Patrick Wilson
September 20, 1951 – August 30, 2020
It is with great sadness that the family of John Wilson announces his passing on August 30, 2020. He died peacefully in Richmond after a brief illness.
John is survived by his wife Barbara-Jane (nee Munro), his daughter Julie (Brock Hayes), and his two much loved grandchildren Colin and Ronan. He is predeceased by his son Graham (2001), brother Michael (2008) and sister Jane (1990).
John was born and raised in Vancouver, BC, the second of seven children to Frances and John Wilson. John leaves a large family who hold cherished memories of time spent together: brother Robert (Deborah), sisters Maureen, Beverly, and Kathleen. John also will be missed by in-laws Kathleen (Ian) Mason, Wendy (Jeff) Robinson, Bill (Kate) Munro, and Bob (Jacquie) Munro. Many nieces, nephews and cousins share in the loss of Uncle John. John leaves many lifelong friends, held dear in his heart, from his childhood and high school days in East Van, and his early working career.
John and Barb moved to West Richmond in 1984, where they raised their two children. He dedicated 30 years working for Health Canada as a quality systems analyst.
John was always eager to travel and experienced many adventures in Canada and around the world. John held a special place in his heart for his cousins in Fiji, and took several trips south to see them, remaining close to them throughout his life. John loved adventure and was always ready for any opportunity to get outside and be active. He was a naturalist and always keen to learn about the wonders of the universe. He loved reading and relaxing in the sun but his commitment to a healthy lifestyle motivated him to continue cycling, hiking, swimming & golfing. He had a special love for being on the water, and in his last years enjoyed kayaking with Barb or fishing with his brother Robert.
John truly loved being a father and more recently a grandpa. He took every opportunity to spend time with Colin and more recently with new baby Ronan, passing on his love of home and nature.
John’s charisma, sense of humour, strong personality and helpful nature always made a lasting impression on everyone he met. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
The family will hold a private memorial. Condolences for the family may be left at www.kearneyfs.com.
