We, the family of John Bernard “Bubs” MacMullin, regret to announce his passing on Tuesday, January 14, 2020, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born March 24, 1942, in Boisdale, he was the son of the late Bernard and Mary (MacIntyre) MacMullin.
John enjoyed adventure in his younger years as a truck driver living in Whitehorse, Yukon. He later settled in Sydney and worked at Sydney Steel for 30 years. John was an avid golfer and was a longtime member at Seaview Golf Club. He also loved watching hockey and going to Screaming Eagles games. John loved spending time with his family and always enjoyed music at family gatherings. John traveled to Ontario every Christmas to visit his children and his grandsons, who he proudly called “Poppa’s boys”.
John is survived by his wife of 50 years, Margaret Michaelena(MacDonald); daughter, Tammy (Jerry) Yetman, Cambridge, ON; son, Todd (Keri),Orono, ON; grandchildren, Brady and Keegan Yetman; sisters, Christina (Pat)Moore, Sydney and Mary Tighe, Boisdale; brothers, Blaise, Boisdale and Daniel,Montreal; and many nieces and nephews, who he loved dearly.
Besides his parents, Bubs was predeceased by his brother, Norman and his nephews Glen Moore and Tyler MacMullin.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Sunday,January 19 from 2-4 p.m. Funeral service will be held at St. Andrew’s Church, Boisdale on Monday, January 20 at 11 a.m., with Rev. Dennis Lamey officiating. Interment in St. Andrew’s Parish Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Renal Dialysis at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
