Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John M Belanger on August 21, 2020 at the age of 80, at Porteous Lodge in Saskatoon, SK. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife Naomi (nee Cabanillia), step-son Randy (Ann), many relatives and friends and numerous acquaintances. He was predeceased by his first wife Victoria (nee Lehmann) in 2002.
John moved to Saskatoon from Kirkland Lake, ON in his early twenties. He became an insurance broker at the time and continued until his retirement in 2019. During his career he met many life-long friends and associates.
John gave his heart to Jesus Christ and attended church regularly. He enjoyed reading the Bible and teaching his beliefs in many ways.
John struggled with some health issues but counted his blessings everyday. He had a good sense of humour and a twinkle in his eye. He loved to make people laugh and smile. John was an avid golfer. When the sun was shining he would be up at the crack of dawn and on his way to the golf course. There he met and made many friends playing the game he loved.
John loved to travel and his favourite destination was Oahu Honolulu, Hawaii. He spent 47 years going back and forth. This is where he met his loving wife Naomi and they were married in 2008.
We would like to give special thanks to the staff and caregivers at Porteous Lodge for all the care and attention that they gave John. It was greatly appreciated. Now he is resting in peace and waiting for Jesus to come and resurrect him.
At this time, no funeral service will be held.

It is with extreme sadness that I recently learned of the passing of John who I’d met on Waikiki Beach many years ago. We’d meet up at the same time of the year and I got to know he and his wife, Vicky, and then Naomi years after Vicki sadly passed away. We always had a great time playing jokes on each other and just talking about life. I hadn’t seen John since my last visit to Waikiki in 2012 at which time I began visiting Kauai and Maui to escape the crowds of Oahu. Regardless, John was often on my mind along with all the other gang who’d visit Oahu at the same time of year. My best to Naomi and all of the old friends that John left behind. He’ll be missed and was a unique character!
