Obituary of Joan Harper
Joan Constance Beth Harper nee “Ramsay”
March 4, 1933 ~ October 17, 2020
Loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away on October 17th, 2020 at the age of 87.
Joan grew up Prince Albert and married the love of her life on Aug 8th, 1953. Together they had 3 boys, Craig, Blaine, and Warren.
Mom was able to stay home and raise her children and grandchildren. From baking, cooking large meals, sewing, quilting, singing, and dancing in the kitchen these times brought much joy to Mom. Mom loved to host family gatherings whether it be Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas, or Birthdays so we could all be together.
She followed all three boys, grandchildren, and great grandchildren to as many of their life journeys as she could. She loved her hockey & football and would talk to you about sports for hours on end. Many road trips near and far were made to watch Warren and the grandchildren play hockey as well she attended football games, dance recitals, gymnastic meets, soccer games, ball games, you name it she loved them all.
A few years after Dad passed Mom moved to the farm and enjoyed every minute of it. Mom raised 2 of her 5 Old English sheep dogs that she had out at the farm, her Tweety bird, 10 cats and her 2 horses Angel and Promise. Mom loved all creatures and it showed.
You could find Mom on the side by side on any given day. Raking leaves, cutting grass, tending to the garden, making treats for the horse and llamas, taking daily walks with her dog or picking up horse poop, she did it all. Rain or shine she was out and about, not afraid to get dirty or of a little hard work.
Mom is survived by her sons Craig (Lauren) and their two daughters Kendall (Chris) and their children Gavin and Gage; Daughter Erin. Son Blaine (Ellen) and their children Jamie (Devon) and their children, Kaitlyn, Ashley, and Kolton; Chris (Chantel) and their two children Kyra and Carter. Joan is also survived by her daughter in law Monica and her four daughters Hannah (Brandon) and their children Piper and Benjamin; Shelby and her children Beau, Harlow, and Georgia; Rebecca (Travis) and Beth (Josh). As well as her brother Jim Ramsay (Eddie) and their children from Abbotsford, BC. Along with numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and family friends.
Mom was predeceased by her husband Roy in 2001 and her son Warren in 2014.
Mom will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and fellow congregation at Gateway Covenant Church.
A special thank you to all the nurses, caregivers, and staff at Mont St Joseph’s Home for the wonderful care and compassion shown to Mom during her time spent there.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Mont St Joseph’s Home or the Prince Albert SPCA in Joan’s memory.
