Harris, Joan McNairn (Harrison)
Age 92, passed away peacefully at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on
Sunday, September 20, 2020. Born on March 17, 1928 in
Westville, Pictou County she was the daughter of Sam Harrison and Mary
(Girvan) Harrison.
Joan was predeceased by her husband, Grant Harris and
brother, Girvan Harrison. She is survived by son, Mel;
daughter-in-law, Kathie (Bonner); granddaughter, Lynn all of Baddeck
and nieces Heather Harrison and Jena Beauchamp.
Joan was very proud of her Pictou County roots
and was a member of the first Grade 12 graduating class of Westville
High School in 1945. She also worked at the Bank of Nova Scotia in
Westville until her marriage in 1953. Joan lived in Truro most of her
adult life until moving to the Alderwood Rest Home in Baddeck in
2019.
Thank you to the staff of the Alderwood Rest
Home in Baddeck for their care over the past year and to the staff of
the Victoria County Memorial Hospital and the ER Department of the
Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
At Joan’s request there will be no
funeral or visitation. A family graveside internment will take place
at Auburn Cemetery in Westville at a later date. Cremation has taken
place. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
