Obituary
This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Joan Lillian (Smith) died and went home to our Lord on Feb 6, 2020 at the Church of St John and Stephen in Saint John, NB on September 9,1930 she was the daughter of Clarence and Mabel (Banks) Smith. Joan and husband David E Duplisea were married September 16,1950. They had been married almost 58 years when David died in 2008 and had lived in Fredericton Junction and Saint John.
Joan is survived by daughters Linda, Alice, Carol and Faye. She was Gram to Tom, David, John, James, Sarah, and Aaron. She was Great Gram to Clair, Sadie, Tylar, Kayley, Autumn, Sydney, Amelia, Isabella and Cliff. She is also survived by several family cousins, nieces and nephews and countless friends. Joan was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Joan is predeceased by her husband, both parents, sisters Alice Tracy, twin sisters Verna and Rosalie Smith, brother Glendon. The family thanks the staff at the St. John St. Stephen Nursing Home for the excellent care they provided Joan during her three year stay. We also thank homecare workers Jane and Sandra, and Assessments Plus for their help keeping mom at home as long as we were able.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424). Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 12:30-2p.m, with a memorial service in the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m. Interment will take place in the Gladstone Cemetery in the Spring.
Due to severe allergies, the family requests no real flowers and in lieu of flowers suggests remembrances in memory of Joan to the St. John and St. Stephen Nursing Home Activity and Entertainment Fund, Crescent Valley Gospel Centre, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
