“God looked upon His garden and found an empty space; He then looked down upon this earth and saw your tired face. He put His arms around you and lifted you to rest. God’s garden must be beautiful, He only takes the best. He knew that you were suffering, He knew you were in pain He knew you might never get well upon this earth again. He saw the road was getting rough and the hills were hard to climb, so He closed your weary eyelids and whispered “Peace be thine”. It broke our hearts to lose you but you never went alone, for part of us went with you The day God called you home.”
It is with great sadness the family announce the passing of Joan Alexandria Hilborn (nee Smith), age 83, in hospital on Sunday, November 15, 2020 with family by her side.
She was born to George and Dorothy Smith in Bewdley Ontario in 1937 and was the oldest sister to Joyce(predeceased), Sharon, Francis and Debbie.
Joan will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her husband of 65 years, Don Hilborn, who knew the first moment he laid eyes on her in their high school hallway, she would become his wife. She was the adored mother to Dave (Julia), Ron (Irene) and Scott (Carrie) and the cherished grandmother to Evan, Garrett, Kelsey, Cameron, Emily, Nick and Sarah, all of whom will miss her playful demeanor.
Joan loved to travel, garden, and was a beautiful quilter.
Due to current conditions, no public service will be held. The family will hold a private remembrance in the future when it is safe to travel and meet.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Joan Hilborn January 21 1937 November 15 2020 (age 83)..
