Jill S Smith Tuesday May 5th 2020

The Smith family announces the passing of their mother, grandmother, and beloved sister, Jill, who died peacefully on May 5th, 2020. She is survived by her two children, April and Scott, granddaughter, Sadie, and two sisters Nancy and Wendy, as well as her faithful friend and conspirator in many of her adventures, Polly.
She died at home with her daughter and granddaughter, surrounded by love, the way she wanted. Jill’s friends and family will miss her contagious laugh, fighting spirit, strength, great attitude and her dedication to helping others, as well as, her artistic talent, love of the outdoors, and her ability to get lost without getting lost; “it is all about the journey, not the destination”. Born in Kingston Ontario in 1948, educated in Montreal, this woman was unstoppable. There was nothing she could not do if she set her mind to it, be it: teaching, publishing, sobriety, renovating houses, gardening, writing, biking, knitting, kayaking, and following her dreams wherever they took her. Most recently, cycling across Canada at the age of 68, raising over 26 000$ for Children’s Cancer after surviving Cancer herself. She touched many lives over the years and meant a lot to many people across Canada and the world. She was very active in both the Yarmouth and Shelburne communities, dedicating many hours of service to help others achieve their personal goals. Gone but never forgotten, until we meet again. ❤️ A memorial service will be held in her honor once we can all get together again safely.
