Passed away on November 5, 2020, at Freeport Hospital in Kitchener, Ontario at the age of 88.
Beloved wife of the late John Sellers. Loving mother to Chris Sellers (Val Smith-Sellers), Pippa Sellers (Danielle Bernier) and Tim (Jennifer) Sellers. Cherished grandmother to Kaitlyn Sellers, Brandon Sellers, Teagan Sellers and Colm Sellers. Dear sister to Sally Abbott (nee Page) and Anthony Page.
Jill lived in England before coming to Canada in 1959 to marry John and start a family. She grew up during the war when rations of food, clothing and books hampered everyday life and air raid sirens and bomb shelters were a fact of life. Drawing on this experience, she taught her children the values of being grateful for what they have, respecting others, taking care of the world around us and above all, cherishing time with family. During her life, she enjoyed singing in choirs, earned a bachelor’s degree in French and Spanish and built a reputation for being a valuable secretary both in England and when she moved to Canada. When she and John retired, they moved from Toronto to Castleton, a small Ontario community, where Jill could tend to her gardens and be active in the local horticultural society. After John passed away in 2016, she moved to Kitchener to be closer to family and was welcomed by the Winston Park community where she used her beautiful voice in the choir, joined in activities and played cards with her new-found friends.
Private cremation has taken place and there will be no public service at this time. Arrangements entrusted to the Henry Walser Funeral Home at 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Lutherwood Child & Family Foundation would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
