Jessie Margaret Blight 19292020

Jessie Margaret Blight
1929-2020
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of
Jessie Margaret Blight, RN, of Riverview, on March
16th, 2020 at The Moncton
Hospital.
Jessie, also known to many as Jay, was born in Moncton on to
the late Ralph Edward and Mary Victoire (Smith) Lockhart.
She was also predeceased by her brother Dean Lockhart (Shirley), and
sisters Shirley (Bob) Ford, Connie (Harold) Ward and Pamela
Wall.
She grew up in Moncton, moving to Sackville and Sus during
the war and then eventually settling in Hillsborough. There
she met and married, on August 30, 1952, the love of her life, William
Wallace Blight (Bill). In 1957
Jessie and Bill, and their family, moved to
Riverview. The boys all grew up in their
family home where Bill still remains after 63 years.
Jessie graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1951, and worked in
obstetrics at the Moncton Hospital until her five little boys became
her whole world. She was a long standing and active member
of St Paul’s United Church in Riverview, singing in the
choir and working tirelessly as an Honorary Life Member of the
UCW.
Jessie bowled for many years with the Domestic Engineers,
enjoying the many friendships, the competition and the fun.
She was a member of the Riverview Arts Council and during the past few
years has truly enjoyed painting with the Mount Royal Paint
Group.
Jessie loved her home in Riverview, baking, and cooking while
trying to keep a very busy household well organized. But,
just as much, she treasured spending her summer days gardening and
reading in South Cove, Shediac. The cottage was always a hub
of activity. There, the family gathered every week, giving her and
Bill countless days of fun, laughter, and quality time with their
children, grandchildren and great-
grandchildren.
Her unending love for her family and for her friends, her
strong faith and her humility and grace will be remembered by all who
loved her. We will miss her very much.
Jessie is survived by her husband Bill and her five boys
James (Mary), Bill (Claire), Peter (Joanne), Barry (Simone), and Ralph
(Heather). She was a loving Grandmother to Christopher
(Natalie), Kate (Mel), Gail (Jay), Krista (Jared), Barry (Rebecca),
Becky (Rob), Peter (Camilla), Thomas (Ashley), Emily, Lexi, and Drew.
She was a devoted Great-Grandmother to Ben, Alexander, Charlie, Ava,
Hendrix, Nicholas, Sophie, James, and Rhea, and a Sister-in-Law to Kim
Blight, Frank and Carol Wilson, and Les and Margie Blight and Aunt Jay
to many nieces and nephews. Jessie was the last remaining
member of her family.
A private family service of celebration will take place in
the near future at Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center,
330 Whitepine Rd., Riverview (869-2007), with Rev. Steve Berube
officiating. The interment will take place in Fairhaven
Cemetery at a later date. In honour of Jessie, memorial
donations to The Canadian Cancer Society or the Albert County
Historical Society would be greatly appreciated.
The family would like to thank Dr. P. Phelan, Dr. L. Searle
and the Palliative Care Team for all their compassion and support
during this very difficult time. Online condolences can be expressed
