MacKINNON, Jessie Anna
– Little Narrows/Baddeck. With broken hearts we the family
announce the passing of Jessie MacKinnon age 84, a wonderful mother,
grammie, gram, great-grammie, gg and mother-in-law on Friday, March
20, 2020, in Victoria County Memorial Hospital, Baddeck. Born in South
Cove she was the daughter of the late Neil Peter and Norena (Matheson)
MacInnis. Mom lived most of her adult life in Little Narrows moving to
Baddeck in 2018.
She is survived by son, Lawrence (Janet Gillis); daughter,
Noreen Rudderham (Miles); grandchildren, Lawren MacKinnon (Jennifer
Stapleton), Shamus MacKinnon (Kate Peddle) and Stephanie Seaboyer;
great-grandchildren, Jacob, Hannah, Keiler and Ellis. Mom is survived
also by sisters, Carman MacKinnon (Jack), Evelyn Hebb (Wilson),
Marilyn Matheson (Wayne), Judith Nelson (Dennis); brother, Calvin
MacInnis; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Mom was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Charles;
brother, Dan MacInnis; sister-in-law, Edna MacInnis; brother-in-law,
Howard Matheson.
Mom loved to knit and enjoyed her time with friends at
knitting club at the Little Narrows Community Center. Many friends and
family received gifts of knitted socks, hats, mitts, baby afghans and
panda bears and kittens over the years. In 2018 mom moved to the
seniors apartment complex in Baddeck where she made many new friends.
She thoroughly enjoyed her time there.
While in hospital, Mom looked forward to her many visitors
and phone calls from family and friends. We will all miss our chats
with Mom.
Thank you Aunt Marilyn for being there for Mom during her
illnesses these last few years.
We the family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and
staff of Victoria County Memorial Hospital for their excellent care
and kindness to Mom during her stay in hospital.
As per Mom’s wishes, cremation has taken place
under the care of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Whycocomagh.
A graveside service will be held
Saturday July 4, 2020 at 11 a.m. in Stewartdale
Cemetery. Memorial donations in
Mom’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
