FORTIER, Jessica Christine (Jess) of Matheson, Ontario, passed away on July 3rd, 2020 at the age of 23 years.
Beloved daughter of Barb Clark (nee McKee) and Pierre Fortier, Jessica was born in Sudbury on September 2, 1996. She attended Iroquois Falls Secondary School and graduated in 2013 as an Ontario Scholar. She worked in the mining industry. She loved drawing, painting, sewing, and all forms of art and enjoyed kayaking and dirt biking. She volunteered at Intrepid Place in Timmins with an interest in mental health. Jess had a deep care and understanding for people struggling with mental health issues.
Starting September, she was enrolled to start in a Social Work Program at Northern College working towards a Post-Graduate Art Therapy Degree.
Jessica is survived by her parents Barb Clark of Matheson and Pierre Fortier of Sturgeon Falls, as well as her grandparents Ranald and Vivian McKee, and Victor and Rachelle Fortier. She is also survived by aunts and uncles Thelma Byers, Donna (Joe) Pearson, Wayne McKee, Nicole (Jeremy) Lukianovitch; and cousins Brittney Waters, Jenna Witty, Lauren Denommee, and Taylor Lukianovitch. Jess will also be greatly missed by her many extended family members, colleagues and friends.
A memorial service will be held by Pierre’s family on August 15, 2020. Times are yet to be confirmed and will be posted on our website as soon as they are made available.
