Obituary of Jeff Gilkie
GILKIE, Geoffrey Stewart: Of Sambro. It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Geoffrey (Jeff) Stewart Gilkie, on August 2, 2020 at age 62. He was the son of Stewart Alan and the late Muriel Florence (Hart) Gilkie. Jeff is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Sherrie Lyn (Mitchell) Gilkie; his devoted daughter, Kassy; his adored dogs Cooper and Charlie; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Albert and Anne (Hartlen) Gilkie; and Elias and Bertha (Baker) Hart.
Jeff spent his early days working in electronics and fisheries, then moved on to working with computers, and eventually settled at Oceaview Fisheries whom he came to think of as family. He loved to find deals on computers, cars and anything else that struck his fancy. In his younger days he loved riding motorcycles. He also loved music and space shows and his wicked sense of humour was one of his best traits loved by all! His favourite day of the week was “Rum Dumb” night where he would play cards with his best friends and he couldn’t wait to “eat, drink and cheat” with all the guys!
Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. Keeping with his wishes, there will be a small graveside service held at Saint James United Cemetery on August 15, 2020 at 2pm. All are welcome to attend, keeping with the COViD-19 restrictions. The family would like to express their gratitude towards the nursing staff of the V.G. 5A floor for their kind, compassionate and gentle service through this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jeff’s name to the St. James Church, Sambro, NS.
The song is ended, but the melody will linger on forever.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Jeff
