Jeannine Wagner
1930-2020
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful
passing of Jeannine Marriott (Holloway) (MacDonald) Wagner of
Plymouth, on Monday, April 20, 2020 in the Aberdeen Hospital. Born in
Abercrombie on May 10, 1930, she was a daughter of Joseph and Nellie
(Godfrey) Holloway.
Jeannine is survived by her daughters: Carolyn Francis
(Stephen Deveau), Mount Uniacke; Maureen Cox (Clifford), Plymouth; and
Alison MacDonald, Oxford; son, Keith MacDonald (Mary Fennell), New
Glasgow; and stepdaughter, Judy (Robert) Lockett, Bridgetown;
grandchildren: Shauna (Gordon) MacIsaac; Chelsea (John) McKinnon;
Lloyd Fraser (Christine Chisholm); Jacob MacDonald (Jenna MacDonald);
Christopher Cluney; and Christine Cluney; step-grandchildren: Michele
(Graham) Wright; Michael (Andrea) Lockett; Shawn (Nancy) Wagner and
Derrick (Brenda) Wagner, many great-grandchildren and great
step-grandchildren, and sister-in-law, Charlotte
“Shy” MacDonald. Besides her parents; she
was predeceased by her first husband, Calvin MacDonald; second
husband, Glen Wagner; step-daughter, Elaine Wagner; and siblings,
Hubert Holloway, Dorothy Wadden, and Kay
Holloway.
Jeannine was a very easy-going, sociable person with a great
sense of humour who spent most of her life caring for others. She grew
up on a farm in Abercrombie and attended the country school there.
Jeannine then moved to New Glasgow where she attended high school, and
eventually worked for a dentist. After marrying Calvin MacDonald,
living in Trenton, and having four children, she re-entered the
workforce as a practical nurse in private care, and at Sunset Haven
Home for Special Care in New Glasgow. Jeannine later purchased Sunset
Haven, working side by side with Calvin, and then with her second
husband Glen Wagner. After retirement, they moved full time to their
cottage at Eden Lake where they hosted friends and family, and spent
the winters in Florida. Eventually they built a home in Plymouth,
where she was still living when she entered the
hospital.
We would like to acknowledge and express our appreciation for
the wonderful care provided to Jeannine over the years by Dr. Barclay,
the VON, and Pictou County Home Care. Our thanks are extended to the
nursing staff at the Aberdeen Hospital in the Medicine, Extended Care,
and Palliative Care Units.
Arrangements are under the direction of R.H. Porter Funeral
Home, New Glasgow. For the safety of family and friends,
there will be no visitation or funeral service at this time. A service
will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to the Aberdeen
Palliative Care Society, VON or charity of choice.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Jeannine Wagner 19302020..
