Obituary of Jean Evelyn Leeman
Leeman, Jean Evelyn, 92 of Freeport, Digby Co., passed away December 26, 2020 in the Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Tiverton, Nova Scotia, she was a daughter of the late Nelson (Wilma) Prime. She loved cooking, sewing, crocheting and knitting. She also enjoyed line dancing and was an avid reader. She owned and operated the K&J Canteen in Tiverton for many years, which she built with her husband Kingsley. She was a member of the Rebecca Lodge and the Church of Christ in Tiverton. She also belonged to the Super Seniors clubs in Freeport and Tiverton and enjoyed playing cards especially cribbage and 45’s. She is survived by children Laraine (Harold) Graham of Westport, Dale (Deloris) Elliott of Digby and Virginia (George) Crawley of Middle Sackville; grandchildren Lisa, Karla, Shauna, Jeremy, Stephanie, Natasha and 12 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband Andrew Elliott, second husband Kingsley Leeman, three grandchildren Andrew, Jesse, and Cole; her brothers Arnold and Ivan. The family would like to thank Diane Young, Cheri Young and Kathy Elliott for caring for Jean in her final years. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 31st at the Church of Christ in Tiverton with Pastor Lou Outhouse officiating. Private family interment will be held in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jean’s memory may be sent to the Canadian Cancer Society, Nova Scotia Heart & Stroke Foundation or to a charity of one’s choice.
