Obituary of Jean Christensen
August 8, 1926-March 5, 2020
Mrs. Jean Isabel Christensen, age 93, of London, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2020 at University Hospital with family by her side.
Jean was born in 1926 in Fordwich, Ontario, a daughter of the late Irving and Marguerite Gibson.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 66 years, Jesse Christensen; eldest son, Kim Christensen; grandson Trevor Christensen and brother Robert Gibson.
Jean is loved and missed by 2 sons and 3 daughters-in-law, Robert Christensen (Mary Jane) of Fontihill, Glen Christensen (Jane) of Cambridge, and Sylvia Christensen of Kitchener; 6 grandchildren, Sonja, Robert (Rhandi), Heidi (Scott), Greg (Sachine), Andrew and Emma; 3 great grandchildren, Leo, Lyra and Anders; Sister-in-law Connie and several other family members and friends.
Jean was a lifelong learner and teacher. After attending Althouse College at 40, Jean found joy in teaching English as a second language to many new Canadians and working in the London Public Library. Jean enjoyed quilting, knitting and crochet and especially loved sharing her beautiful projects with loved ones.
A memorial is planned March 22 2-4 pm in Nature’s Nook, at Chelsey Park Apartments, 314 Oxford Street West, London.
