Jean passed away peacefully at Spruce Lodge on Tuesday March 31, 2020 in her eightyninth year. Jean Rae Sangster (nee Smith), loving wife of Ronald Sangster. Loving mother of Susan (Rev. Steve Lindsay), Donna (Bill Brown) and Beth (John Macintyre). Loved grandmother of Sarah (John), Donald (Jessica), David (Christa), Laura and Peter. Proud Great grandmother of Henry and Caroline. Sister-in-law of Marie (late Stewart) and Eleanor (late Ernest). Fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Edwina and Wilfred Smith, and by four brothers Ernest, Morris (late Marion), Stewart and Jack (late Ruby). Jean was raised in Monkton, Ontario and graduated from the Stratford General Hospital School of Nursing, class of 1952. Jean was a dedicated and enthusiastic CGIT leader, camper and executive on the provincial and National Boards. She was a devoted member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian church Humber Heights, Grace Presbyterian Church (Etobicoke), Knox Bayfield and St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church (Stratford). The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the wonderful staff at Spruce Lodge and Woodland Towers for their kindness and attention to Jean’s care.
Due to the current health concerns, a private family service has been held. Interment in Avondale Cemetery, Stratford. Memorial donations to the Stratford General Hospital Foundation or St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church would be appreciated and may be made through the W.G.
