Jean Lenora Thomson of Thedford was welcomed into her Saviour’s arms on Friday, July 17, 2020, at the age of 92 after receiving wonderful care at Strathroy Middle General Hospital and Bluewater Health Sarnia.
Jean was the loved wife of Glenn Thomson (2014) and the loving mother of Wayne & Judy Thomson, Valerie Thomson & Mike Flick, Vicki Thomson-Bade & Ralph Bade, and Janet & Jamie Holmes.
Jean was the cherished Grandmother of Kerri, Hannah, and Jeff, Great Grandmother of Shawn and Angeline, also special Grandma Jean to Nolan, Jackson, and Audrey. Jean is predeceased by her Granddaughter Amy (2013), as well as her parents and siblings. Jean will be missed by her church family, as well as her abundance of family and friends throughout the Thedford community.
Active is the first word that comes to mind for anyone who knew Jean. Never one to sit still, Jean traveled with her team sports, including baseball, shuffleboard, and golf. Many other activities were part of Jean’s life, including cards, rollerskating, badminton, and curling. Jean was also very involved in serving in her community as a 4-H Leader, helping with meat raffles, and taking part in and supporting the Legion services, especially the Remembrance Day service. Jean was by no means all leisure though, a hard worker, Jean worked for many years at Coultis Saw Mill, the Army Camp, and the family farm, gardening, caring for the livestock from sheep to shawl, even birthing the lambs.
A private family service will take place at Beechwood Cemetery on Wednesday, July 22 with Rev. Dr. Christine O’Reilly officiating.
Donations are appreciated to Knox Presbyterian Church in Thedford for Strathroy Middle General Hospital. Family and friends continue to remember Jean, a life marked by hard work, activity, and strength.
